After visiting the Kanchipuram temple, I went to Mahabalipuram.

A small town is spread around the coastal temple, and there is a park nearby where you can find Krishna's butterball. A little south of there is Phra That, and about 5 km north is Tiger Cave, which has carvings on the rocks. I went to see those places. The coastal temple complex is such that a group of temples has already sunk into the sea, so only a small portion is visible. It seems that in the past, it was exposed to the waves of the coast, but now it is surrounded by a fence.

The temples themselves are much more magnificent than those in places like Khao Phanom Rung or other temples in the south. They are quite small, and I felt like they were similar to a place like "Iwami Ginzan" in Japan. The historical and cultural background is amazing, but only a small part of it can be seen. This is a park near a coastal temple. In the photo, you can see the Krishna butterball, which looks like it might fall off but doesn't. It is much more substantial than the images I have seen in books. It may look like it is about to fall due to an optical illusion or the magic of the video. This is also a painting on a stone wall in the park. It is named "Descent of the Ganga," and it seems to depict the story of the Ganges River descending into this world. This is Tiger Cave, located about 5 km north of the coastal temple. When you see it up close, the tiger's face looks very cute (laugh).
