Moving from Çanakkale to Bergama.

I will travel from Çanakkale to Bergama by bus.
It's a METRO bus, costing 50 liras (approximately 2260 yen), and the journey takes about 4 hours.

The bus station (otogar) in Çanakkale is a bit far away, and it seems that the area within the town that is within walking distance is the old otogar, while the new otogar is a bit far to walk to.

Fortunately, I bought the ticket at the METRO office near the port, so I was able to board from the port area.
The departure time is 8:45 AM, but I was told to arrive by 8:15 AM. What does that mean?

When I arrived by 8:15 AM, a staff member guided me to the port after the departure time.
Then, a ferry arrived with the bus on it, and I was told to board it. So that's how it is.

After boarding, the bus stops at the Çanakkale otogar (bus station).
It seems that the ticket time was the time when the bus passes through the otogar (bus station).
That's why I was told to arrive a little early at 8:15 AM.

The bus is comfortable, and drinks are included.

Soon, we arrived near Bergama, and I was waved towards the door, so I went towards the door, but for some reason, I was dropped off on the side of the road (laugh).

Hey, I didn't hear that I would be dropped off on the side of the road.

I was prepared to walk about 10 km to town, but there was a taxi waiting there, so I decided to take it. It used the meter, and it cost about 40 liras (1800 yen) to get to my hotel in town.

Later, I realized that there was an otogar (bus station) a short distance from where the taxi picked me up, so I could have walked there and taken a regular bus. It feels a bit wasteful. I made a wrong assumption.

But, if it was that close, they could have just dropped me off at the otogar (bus station). They dropped me off on the side of the road.

Then, I arrived at the hotel by taxi.

There aren't many hostels in this town, and although there might be some, at least they don't appear on booking.com, so I reserved a single room.

Here is the information about the accommodation:
Pergamon Pension
Single room (double bed), shared bathroom
3 nights for 60 euros (183 liras).
20 euros per night, approximately 2760 yen.

Red Basilica

Today, the weather is uncertain, so I went to see the Red Basilica near my house.
It was under renovation, but I was able to go inside.

The entrance fee is 5 liras (approximately 45 yen), but it is included in the museum pass.

This statue appears to be about half restored.

The part from the shoulders down seems to be original, while the part from the shoulders up, including the face, appears to be restored.
If you look closely, the degree of weathering due to the passage of time is different.

Bergamo Archaeological Museum.

Today, I am going to the Archaeological Museum of Bergamo, which is located in the center of the city of Bergamo.

It is a small museum.
I think the entrance fee was probably 5 liras, but it was included in the museum pass.

Asklepieion.

I went to the Asklepieion, which is located on the outskirts of town.

While I was walking down the road, I saw a horse.

Akropolis (Akropolis, Akropol)

Today, we will visit the Acropolis, which is located on a hill in Bergamo.

We can use a ropeway (10 liras one way, approximately 950 yen), but since it's not that far, we decided to go on foot.
We saw a few other people walking, so it doesn't seem like a difficult distance.

Reached the ropeway station.
Right in front of the station is the entrance to the ruins.

The entrance fee is probably around 25 liras (approximately 1140 yen), but this is also included in the museum pass.

Although it is quite ruined, it makes you feel the greatness of the civilization that built such a temple on this hill.

I believe it was explained that, in terms of scale, it was comparable to Alexandria in Egypt, the Acropolis in Athens, and Ephesus in Selçuk.

I didn't have high expectations, but I enjoyed it because it was larger than I expected.

And then, we leave the ruins.
