This shrine in the surrounding area was relatively unknown to me, so I decided to visit on a whim.
Surprisingly, this place has a long history, dating back to the myths of the transfer of the capital from Izumo.
At the main hall of this shrine, a prayer for the safety of His Majesty the Emperor's upcoming trip to the United Kingdom was being held.
There were many priests, and it seems that His Majesty the Emperor has visited many times, and although it was my first time, it seemed to have quite a history.
I visited the treasure hall, and it turns out that there used to be a ship called the "Katoh." There were also many old items on display.
However, what I couldn't quite understand was that, while this place is certainly a sacred place, the main hall seemed to be, for some reason, empty or hollow. If I were to describe the main hall, it was like the "Wailing Wall" in Israel, a space that seems to absorb all thoughts and emotions into nothingness. This is purely my personal impression, and I don't think there is any explanation for it.
When I tried to make a wish at the main hall as usual, there was no response. It was as if no one was there. It felt like my thoughts were being sucked into the void.
I wondered what to do, so I went to a small shrine in the back and made a similar wish, and this time, I received a clear response like "um" or "so," as if the god was answering me from somewhere else. So, the god is there, but the main hall felt a little strange.
Perhaps the god was busy answering prayers for His Majesty the Emperor. Just in case, I tried making a wish at the main hall again after the prayer ended, but there was still no response. I don't know what to make of it.
I tried something, I expanded my consciousness to the area around the main hall and tried to visualize a pentagram circle superimposed on the main hall to see how it would react, but it still felt like an empty space, and the circle didn't seem to be drawn properly. In my interpretation, perhaps this shrine has many people making various wishes, so the main hall is kept as an empty space to absorb thoughts and emotions. This is similar to the "Wailing Wall" in Israel, I think, but I have no proof.
All of this is just my personal impression. I just felt that way.
