Taiwan, around Taipei.

To Taiwan.

At Narita Airport.

This time, instead of cycling, it was a casual trip with a friend. I thought that sometimes it's good to do things like this, so I decided to go.

I had been planning to go for a while, but I actually decided to go just a few days before, so it became a sudden departure.

This time, I used China Airlines.

Shilin Night Market (Shilin Night Market).

After arriving, I heard that the night market stalls were famous, so I decided to go check them out.

For now, I decided to go to Shilin Night Market, which I heard is the largest night market.

There are a lot of people.

After walking around a bit, I tried "stinky tofu," which is said to be a staple in Taiwan, but I couldn't really eat it.

This is stinky tofu.

And, I filled my stomach at a small shop, and then quickly left the night market.

To the Palace Museum.

In the morning, I left the hotel and headed towards the Palace Museum.

I pass in front of Taipei Station.

The shape is interesting.

There is a Mitsukoshi department store in front of Taipei Station.

While I was on my way to the Palace Museum in a taxi, a very large building suddenly appeared in front of me.

What is this... I was thinking, but it seems to be a hotel.

It looks like a palace of something.

And then, we arrived at the Palace Museum.

The building doesn't seem that old.

The coloring is also a bit like flat coloring?

It was under construction just now.

Thanks to that, I could only see a little bit.

Gaku... .

I am quite shocked.

And then, I hurried home.

Martyrs' Shrine (Xionglietzu).

I was thinking of going somewhere from the old museum, and then a taxi driver who spoke broken Japanese started talking to me.

And sometimes, I thought something like this might be nice, so I decided to get on it as is.

For the time being, I thought about going to a massage shop near the Shilin Night Market, which I visited recently, to pass the time. However, the owner said that the night market is not open at this time.

I didn't want to go to the night market, but my actual purpose was to go to a massage shop. However, because explaining that would be troublesome, I decided to let the old man take me to the tourist spots he recommended.

And the first place we visited was here, the Martyrs' Shrine (Xionglietzu).

This place is said to be a memorial for 330,000 soldiers and officers who died in the Xinhai Revolution and the Anti-Japanese War. (According to the guidebook).

Here, the guards change every hour, and it seems to be a sight to behold.

A building with a strangely thick coating of paint.

Is this what it is? It feels subtle.

The guards are standing perfectly still and upright, not even flinching.

Standing upright.

But, as if the time had come, he started moving briskly, spinning his gun around, tapping his boots, and moving with agility.

And, from far away, a replacement is walking over, and it seems they are here to take over.

The guards are walking, maintaining their formation.

Continue the performance.

Performance.

It showed various movements.

And after that, I stopped by a massage parlor.

After receiving a massage there, I headed towards Taipei Station, and decided to go to Keelung, which is a little east of Taipei.

To Keelung.

Take a train from Taipei Station to Keelung.

I bought a ticket for a limited express train, but the limited express train is delayed by more than 40 minutes, and a local train in front of me would arrive in about the same amount of time, so I decided to take the local train. Oh, my...

Because it is similar to Japan, I felt the same way as in Japan, but the fact that trains are often delayed makes me feel like I am in Asia.

From here, we decided to take a bus to "Jiufen," which is said to be the setting for the movie "City of Sadness."

I have not seen this movie.

To the ninth division.

The town of Jiu Fen is a small town located about 40 minutes by bus from the town of Keelung.

As you approach the town, you start to see a beautiful sea.

Under a small mountain, the town spreads out, clinging to the base.

I was walking around town and I found a person who was drawing pictures.

It is elegant.

Spreading townscape.

The temple's decorations are magnificent.

But, I'm really bothered by the way the colors are used, as it seems too flat.

This is a traveler from Taipei whom I met in this city.

Thank you very much for guiding me around the city; it was a great help.

This building seems to be one of the buildings that was used as a setting for a movie.

I am very tired.

The townscape continues for a long time.

And then, after leaving the town of Jiufen, I decided to return to Keelung.

Bonus episode.

What I saw on the bus on the way back to Keelung.

A bonsai is on top of the car.

Taiwan, I'm surprised...।

Taipei, Ximending.

I returned to Taipei, and that night, I decided to visit Ximending, which is known as Shinjuku in Taipei.

There was a sign that celebrated the two people who won the first gold medals for Taiwan in the recent Olympics.

It was said to be "Taiwanese Shinjuku," but the townscape was quite quiet and the atmosphere was calm.

Returning home.

The morning of returning home.

Recently, I found a delicious porridge restaurant.

This porridge is also delicious.

Taipei Station front.

It has a calm atmosphere.

Suddenly, I glanced to the side, and there was a building that, for some reason, didn't seem like it belonged to a government office.

The name is not listed on the map.

And then, we headed towards the airfield, and the short journey came to an end.

This time, I thought it might be good to try cycling across the island.
The taste of the food from the food stalls doesn't quite suit me, but I feel like maybe my taste will change if I stay here for a long time.
