This temple sometimes has a buildup of negative energy from the visitors, and I think it's best not to touch the rope that's hanging in the worship area. That's because touching the rope can cause negative energy to flow back. However, hiking trails in the mountains near Tokyo are valuable, and if you just briefly visit the temple, it's not a big problem, so I visit regularly.
There are many Inari shrines here, and it seems like there are many gods who bring prosperity in business and worldly success, and there are also beings that are a bit like demons, such as tengu. Perhaps that's what's appropriate for Tokyo.
