The Alaska State Museum, which offers a glimpse into the world of "Frank Yasuda (Yasuo Yasuda)" depicted in "Alaska Monogatari" (by Shiro Nitta).
I had already read the book above as preparation, so I was able to see exhibits that offered a glimpse into the historical facts.

It seems to be a famous work that was also made into a movie when I was a child, and I feel like I've seen a cover like that in a used bookstore, and maybe there's a used book that I bought for 100 yen somewhere in my house, but I wanted to read it now, so I bought it online. There were such amazing people.

Frank Yasuda's life was very interesting. He was truly like Moses.
This time, I didn't go to the remote areas, but I'd like to take an air taxi and explore remote areas someday.
I'm also interested in Barrow and Beaver, which are the settings for this story.
It's a good work, so I recommend it. I think it's a person that Japanese people should know about.

Here, I saw a real umiaku boat, and it's quite small. It seems like it can carry about 10 people. Looking at the photos, it seems to be about that size, so I was impressed that they were using something like this to travel around the Arctic and hunt whales, which is truly a matter of life and death. It seems like a whale could easily capsize it in an instant.

↓ The lower half shows a photograph of Frank Anata and his wife, Nebiro, which is displayed here. Since it is from 1940, it is a photograph from his later years.

The description mentions his achievements, and it is understood that what is depicted in the story is based on historical facts.
While the story may have some fictional elements, it is largely based on historical facts.
There are many people who have had great adventures, but there are not many who can be called "great" in the sense of leading a group as a leader.

↑ The upper half shows the whaling scene in Baro at that time.

According to the description, Frank Yasuda relocated a group of Eskimos and Native Americans from the northern coast to Beaver, and there was a trade route with a gold mine.
It also openly mentions that he was detained during World War II.

The lower photo shows Frank Anata's daughter, Hana, with her daughter and her mother (Frank Anata's wife, Nebiro). The year is 1955. Hana attended and became a faculty member at the University of Fairbanks.
