Rental car.
I have arrived in Seattle.
This time, the car I rented was a Mitsubishi Mirage.
In Alaska, the roads are wide, so a regular car would have been fine, but in Seattle, a car like this is easier to drive. It doesn't have cruise control, though.
The trunk is smaller than a regular car, so I'll have to put the food on the seats. There aren't as many bears to worry about here as there are in Alaska.
It's probably because it's a cheaper model that it doesn't have Bluetooth audio.

Port Townsend
I came to a fortress located in the northeastern part of the Olympic Peninsula.
From a rough observation, it seems like this was a place where the Japanese military strengthened its defenses in the north, possibly due to an advance into Alaska during World War II.
The sea in Seattle is somehow very calming, for no particular reason.
It seems like the weather will be bad around here tomorrow, so I'm going to keep Vancouver and this part of the Olympic Peninsula in mind for a future trip, and for now, I'm going to head south to where the weather is better.

Alaska was fun, but I'm feeling full and my excitement for the mainland US is waning, so I might shorten my trip by a month and return.
Original plan: Return on October 2nd.
If shortened: Return on September 2nd.
I wonder if that's enough.
Even though it's a shortened trip, I still have four weeks left, so it should be enough.
I can always come back to the mainland US.
→ I'm also considering staying in Los Angeles for a month. New York is good too, but where would be best? There's also San Francisco.
Another option is to stay at an ashram in San Francisco for a month and do yoga, but I feel like if I want to do yoga, India would be better than the US.
Redwood National Park → Yosemite National Park → Death Valley → Las Vegas → Grand Canyon → Salt Lake City → Yellowstone → Lassen Volcanic National Park → Crater Lake National Park → Seattle
And then return, or stay somewhere for a month.
That seems like a good plan.
Three weeks is enough time to drive around.
