A little while ago, I visited that church in Tokyo.
I had heard rumors about it for a long time, but it was my first time actually going. The main purpose was to see the replica of Michelangelo's Pietà.
However, the architecture is also unusual, and the inside is quiet, making it a place suitable for prayer. I quite liked it, even though I am not a Christian.

There was a kindergarten nearby that seemed to be under the jurisdiction of this place, and the mural was very cute.

There were replicas of the Pietà statue and the Lourdes fountain. By the way, I have never been to Lourdes, but I think I would like to go there sometime when I have the chance.

From Mark's perspective, this is the Jesuit order (IHS). It was founded by Ignatius of Loyola, and while it is now considered the same as the Catholic Church, there are accounts that suggest it had some conflicts with the Roman Catholic Church at the time. When the Jesuits came to Japan to spread their teachings, there were instances where the Roman Catholic Church wanted to spread the mainstream Catholicism, not the Jesuit order (IHS), which is quite an interesting story.

When I went to South America, there were many Jesuit associations, and I have the impression that the Jesuit order exists all over the world outside of Europe.

(Previous article)I visited Atsuta Shrine.
