Travel from Dunhuang to Hami by bus.
I will travel by bus to Hami (Hamì) as a transit point to Turpan.
I could have gone directly to Turpan, but there are only overnight buses available, so I decided to have a transit point to avoid overnight travel. Also, I can't see the surrounding scenery during the day, and I don't really like overnight buses.
For the following reasons, a bus seems better than a train, so I will travel by bus.
- There are no good northbound trains from Dunhuang Station. There are many eastbound trains from Dunhuang Station.
- There are many northbound trains from a station about 2 hours north of Dunhuang by bus, but there is also the inconvenience of traveling by bus, and, in addition, the nearest railway station to Turpan is a little far from the city center, so trains are inconvenient.
- Buses depart from within Dunhuang city.
- The bus station in Hami (Hamì), the transit point, is located within the city.
- The bus station in Turpan is located within the city, so if I'm going to Turpan, a bus is the best option.
Therefore, I chose the bus.
I'm not sure about the departure time, so I will buy a ticket at the bus station the day before departure.
The fare from Dunhuang to Hami (Hamì) is 91 yuan (approximately 1780 yen). The distance is about 450 km, and the journey takes about 5.5 hours.
The guidebook says the departure time is 8:00 AM, but it seems to be 9:00 AM.

And the next day, I came to the same place and left by bus.

It runs across a plain with sparse grass and vegetation, although it's not quite a desert.

During the trip, the police stopped us and checked our identification.
We arrived in Hami.
Tonight's accommodation is at "Hami City Huateng Junyue Quick Stay Hotel."
It's a twin room for one person, costing 80 yuan (approximately 1560 yen) per night.

I ate ramen near my house.
This bowl of noodles, although it's hard to tell from the picture, is quite large.
It's a good deal because it's this size and costs 16 yuan (about 310 yen).

For dinner, I ate a stir-fried pork and vegetables rice bowl (15 yuan, approximately 290 yen) at a different restaurant.
The stir-fried pork and vegetables is reliable and reassuring.

Hami Museum.
Today, I am going to the Hami Museum.
First, I will have a meal near here.
The beef ramen here costs 8 yuan (about 156 yen), and it came with a boiled egg.

Hami Huiwang Tomb.
Hami Huiwangfu.
Next, we are heading to the Hami Royal Palace.
This is a reproduction of the royal palace of the Hami Dynasty.
It seems that the original building was burned down in a peasant uprising in 1931.

Approximately half of the site is located on a high ground like this.

The dynasty is of a decent size, considering it's in the countryside.
Is it a testament to its past glory?
As for the outdoor exhibits, well, I think the one I like the most is...It was funny. It is the interior of the dynasty.
It is the high-ground part of the dynasty, which occupies about half of the site.
First, walk according to the exit guidance.
Cross the bridge.
In the distance, a door is visible.
It is a completely ordinary door.
There are some tags...
"This mall is all genuine." What does that mean?

The shops are lined up, stretching far into the distance.
The moment I stepped through this door, did I somehow warp to another dimension?
For a moment, the scenery was so different that I couldn't quite understand where I had been.

According to the guidebook, it says "The interior of the main hall displays historical materials of the royal palace," but it's a mall? What does that mean? Is this mall the historical materials of the royal palace? I don't understand.
From the outside, you can't imagine there's a mall inside at all. The difference between the outside and the inside is huge.
And it's quite large (laughs).
It's crazy that such a large mall is hidden beneath a simple display of the dynasty.Uke.It seems that.
If it's a separate building, it's understandable if they built a souvenir shop near a historical building.
But, this means that the entire area under the reconstructed royal palace building is a shopping mall.
The exterior is so simple, and the contrast with the interior is so interesting.
I've never seen such a sense of design before.
Even when traveling to various places, I don't think I've seen such a design.
The souvenir shop should be built separately, or even if it's inside the facility, it wouldn't be this large.
Wow, this is interesting.
In this rural town, where the town itself isn't very lively, only this place has a dazzlingly large souvenir shop.
It's so amusing that it's fun.
