Veliko Tarnovo, personal travel, 2015.

Move to Veliko Tarnovo.

I will travel from Sofia to Veliko Tarnovo by bus.

I hadn't checked the exact time, but since it was nearby and there are buses running approximately every hour, I went directly to the bus terminal.
Fortunately, there was a bus about to depart, so I got on it.

It took about 3 hours to arrive.
The road was surprisingly narrow, and we passed through a mountainous area.
It seems that Veliko Tarnovo itself is a town built in the mountains.

I walked from the bus terminal to my accommodation. My accommodation for tonight is:
Hostel Happy Sunrise
Double room with shared bathroom, 2 nights for 20 euros (approximately 2,700 yen). No breakfast included.
1,350 yen per night.

The room has windows, and for this price, it's quite good. However, it plays club-like music with heavy bass, very loudly, and repeatedly until past 2 AM, so I can't sleep. That's probably why it's not popular and the price is low.

The owner seems to be into music bands or clubs, that kind of hobby.
The lobby is filled with musical equipment... It would be heaven for people who like that, but it's a tough place for ordinary tourists.

Veliko Tarnovo's Old Town.

First, I will take a walk around the old town of Veliko Tarnovo.

This place was the capital for a short period in the 19th century.

It has a lot of history for such a small town.

Tsarevets (Tsarevets, a fortress, a hill, a castle).

Let's visit the Old Town of Veliko Tarnovo, specifically the Tsarevets architectural preservation area. This is a hill with a fortress and castle ruins.

It's interesting how the scenery suddenly changes from the Old Town to a fortress-like atmosphere. This town has two different aspects.
