Moving from Istanbul to Probudiv.

After finishing my tour of Turkey, I returned from Safranbolu to Istanbul.

I have already finished sightseeing in Istanbul, but I will stay there for two nights as a transit point.
During that time, I will obtain a ticket to Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The accommodation in Istanbul, which is my transit point, is as follows:

Starlet Hostel
Dormitory, 2 nights for 20 euros (approximately 2680 yen), includes breakfast (light meal).
1340 yen per night.

Provdiv Old Town.

The old town of Plovdiv has surprisingly many tourists and is lively.
Bulgaria seems to have a surprisingly thriving casino industry.
Poker has many different rules, and I don't understand them, and I didn't go into the roulette because I don't feel like I'll win.
I've never been to a casino before.
I can see that I'll probably be taken advantage of if I go in.

I stayed in a hotel in the old town, so I can see the hustle and bustle of the street from the window, and the view is good.
However, I can also hear the lively noise from the street even when I'm in the room.

Bulgaria SIM card acquisition.

I obtained a Vivacom SIM card in the old town of Plovdiv.
It appeared to be an authorized dealer because there was a Vivacom sign.

14.9 leva (approximately 680 yen)
Valid for 10 days
Data allowance is 2.5GB.

This is sufficient because I will be staying for about 10 days.

Note:
To check the balance, dial *104#.
The balance is displayed in liras, not in GB, but you can get a general idea of the remaining balance.

As mentioned on the luggage page, I use a SIM-free smartphone, so you can just insert it directly.

The Ancient stadium of Philippopolis.

After walking through the pedestrian zone of the old city, there is a small stadium site.
About half of it remains in its original form, but the cafe seats are right in front of the spectator seats, and there is a 3D theater (in a different sense of the word) in the basement of the theater. So that's how it is!

Church of the Holy Mother of God

The church in the old town has magnificent frescoes, but photography is prohibited inside.
It is surprisingly enjoyable.

St. Dimitar church (St. Demetrius Orthodox Church)

While walking through the old town, I happened to see a church and decided to go inside.
Photography is prohibited inside. There aren't many wall paintings, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

Ruins of a Roman theater and amphitheater.

I went to see the Roman Amphitheatre, which is located in the old town.
Entrance fee: 5 lei (approximately 290 yen).

You could see it from outside the gate without paying the entrance fee, but since it wasn't that expensive, I decided to go inside.
However, for Romanians, this price might be high for this kind of exhibit.
Many people were taking pictures from outside without entering.
Well, I also thought that I might not need to enter such a minor ruin, so it might not be a matter of money, but rather the quality of the ruins.

SS Constantine and Elena Church

I went into the SS Constantine and Elena Church that I saw in the old town.
Inside, there were several people with babies, and they were receiving blessings from the priest.
I came at a good time. It was quite interesting.

Historical Museum - Exhibition Renaissance (Georgiadi House - Revival Museum)

I decided to enter a museum that appears to be a renovated old traditional house in the old town.
The exhibits are interesting, but even more interesting is the building itself.
The center is a circular hall, and four rooms are attached to the four sides of this circular hall, creating a rectangular building. It is three stories high, with a hall on each of the three floors. There are also four rooms on each floor.

When a family member leaves a room, there is no "hallway"; they go directly into the hall. This is a good design. If each family member lives in a room, you can always keep an eye on them, and the hall can be used for multiple purposes.

City Gallery of Fine Arts

While walking through the old town, I discovered a small museum and decided to visit.
It was surprisingly well-stocked, and even had a collection of Japanese ukiyo-e prints, but it wasn't listed on Google Maps, and it didn't appear in search results, so it seems to be a minor museum.
During my visit, I didn't encounter a single other person.

The location is here.

Archaeological Museum Plovdiv.

Finally, I stopped by the Archaeological Museum Plovdiv.
Photography is not allowed inside.

Although it is small, it has a variety of exhibits from ancient times to the Middle Ages, and I enjoyed it.
In the ancient exhibits, there were things that resembled Haniwa from the Yayoi period in Japan.
