Move to Krakow.
I am traveling from Brno, Czech Republic, to Krakow, Poland.
I used STUDENT AGENCY again, a Czech company.

I bought the ticket all the way, but I had a transfer in Ostrava, a town in the Czech Republic.
The transfer was easy because it was just a transfer at the same terminal.
I was worried about being delayed by about 5 minutes, but there were no problems and I was able to make the connection.
The bus attendant on the bus after the transfer checked everything carefully, so I got the impression that this bus company is quite reliable and manages transfers well.
The location of the bus terminal is also provided on the my page with a Google Map and coordinates, so it is very easy to understand. This company is great.
The bus departed at 7:15 AM, I transferred at 10:15 AM, and arrived at the bus terminal east of the Krakow train station around 1:00 PM.
Then I checked into a hostel not far from there.
One World Hostel
3 nights for 94.50 zł (Polish Zloty, PLN), which is about 3,060 yen.
That's about 1,020 yen per night.

One World Hostel 3 nights for 94.50 zł (Polish Zloty, PLN), which is about 3,060 yen. That's about 1,020 yen per night. | I am traveling from Brno, Czech Republic, to Krakow, Poland. STUDENT AGENCY https://jizdenky.studentagency.cz/ https://jizdenky.studentagency.cz/ I bought the ticket all the way, but I had a transfer in Ostrava, a town in the Czech Republic. Auschwitz-Birkenau, a German Nazi concentration and extermination camp.
Today, I participated in an Auschwitz tour from my accommodation in Krakow, and it was much worse than I had imagined.
The piles of hair and bags were overwhelming, and I felt nauseous.
I couldn't look at the hair directly for even 10 seconds. I think I would actually vomit. Even looking at it for a few seconds makes me feel sick and nauseous, so the best thing to do is to avert my eyes and calm myself down, and then look at it again for a few seconds, repeating that process.
Most of the inside areas are allowed to be photographed, but the room with the hair and the underground torture and confinement chambers (rooms with no lights, rooms where people had to stand for long periods, etc.) are not allowed to be photographed. Of course, that makes sense. I felt like I might throw up.
As I mentioned in the previous entry, I only had the option of taking a tour, but it was well-explained, and overall, it was a good experience.
First, we visited Auschwitz I.
This area is relatively small, but it has all the main facilities. The tour starts here and lasts for 2 hours.

↓ The famous sign that says, "If you work, you will be free."

The letter "B" on the sign is upside down.
According to some, it is said to be a symbol of rebellion, but it seems that it was originally a popular font style of the time.

↓ Gas chamber model.

↓ Poison gas can.

↓ Glasses

↓ Jewish clothing

↓ Photograph of personal belongings.

↓ Prosthetic limbs, etc.

↓ Pots and other kitchenware.

↓ Daily necessities

↓ Bag. It has a name written on it.
Here too, I felt extremely sick, although it wasn't as bad as the room with the hair, but I felt nauseous.
This is terrible.
It's amazing to see it in real life.

↓ Children's belongings

↓ Shoes. There are both children's sizes and adult sizes mixed together.

↓ Such as a whisk for shaving cream or beard cream.

↓ Cans, etc.

↓ For a while after entering, it seems like they slept on something like this straw, rather than a bed.

↓ There are many pictures of people with a shaved head.

↓ Toilet

↓ It looks like a bathroom. It looks more like a place to scoop water and pour it over your body, rather than a shower.

↓ Heating. Although, it seems that there was a shortage of heating.

↓ This is a dirty three-tiered bunk bed, but this is the better one.
It's better just to have a bed.
It's in the better category even among beds.

↓ This underground area has a torture chamber. It's a room with no lights, a room where you have to stand. Photography is prohibited in that area.

↓ The blanket was dirty, but it seemed better than having nothing.

↓ Here is the place where the death penalty by shooting is carried out. It is located between buildings and surrounded by walls.

↓ It's a little unclear, but there's something like a clothes drying rack used for hanging.

The railroad rails are attached to the wooden pillars.

Next, we will visit the gas chamber. This gas chamber is small, but it is still sufficient to see what it contains. This is the only part of the tour that we will be visiting. There are also several gas chambers at Auschwitz II, but we will not be visiting those as part of the tour.

The existence of gas chambers is difficult to comprehend.
Should we understand this as not seeing humans as humans?
Does indifference to others and high administrative skills lead to something like this?

Auschwitz I is now complete.
We will now return to the bus and travel for about 5 minutes to Auschwitz II (Birkenau).
Auschwitz II (Birkenau) is a very large site.

It is said that people were crammed into a freight car for several days, without water or food, and brought here.
It is said that 150 people (!) were crammed into one freight car.
Those who are weakened are sent directly to the gas chamber.
Children are sent to the gas chamber because they are not a source of labor. It is difficult to understand.

↓ This small building is a toilet.
It was only open twice a day, with set times.
Also, it was located far away and isolated, and there were only a few of them.
There was no privacy.

↓ This area was described as the bathing area, but like Auschwitz I, it seems to simply involve pouring water. The facilities are quite poor.

↓ Visited a nearby lodging facility.

↓ The scaffolding is made of soil, which easily creates dust, and there are poorly constructed concrete structures and three-tiered bunk beds.
The bottom level will probably be very dusty.
Even considering the wartime period, it is a terrible situation.

And then, I returned to the entrance and went up to the observation deck.
From here, you can see the railway tracks clearly.
You could probably see the people who came out of the train.
Also, you could see the people who were going to the gas chamber.

And the tour ends.
The third concentration camp, Monowitz, was primarily a plant, and it seems that nothing remains now. A visit to that location was not included.
Before coming here, I had a general knowledge of the Holocaust, but seeing it here made me feel that it was a real event. It cannot be compared to actually experiencing it, but I still think it is worthwhile to come and see it. I would recommend it to my friends. This is one of the places that one should visit while alive. In fact, if you live in this era and are even slightly interested in the Holocaust, it may be almost an obligation to come here.
Even when I saw it on television, and even now, I feel that there is something I cannot understand, something that goes beyond my comprehension.
It may be because it is a past event.
When I went to Israel, I visited the Holocaust museum, but I did not participate in the tour.
Now that I think about it, I should have participated in the Holocaust museum tour in Israel.
I might have heard more vivid stories.
There were quite a few Jews here, but they all seemed calm.
Perhaps they were calm on the surface, but their inner feelings might have been different.
Perhaps it is now just a page in history.
In Israel, this place seems to be a standard course for school trips.
Indeed, this is a place that one should visit.
By the way, among the people I talked to, there was no one who seemed surprised or puzzled by Germany.
Perhaps it was just a coincidence.
Or perhaps it is a history that Germans want to forget.

Parade for the 200th anniversary of the birth of Father KS. BOSKO (probably).
While walking through the old town towards the Jewish Quarter, I encountered what appeared to be a parade for the 200th anniversary of the birth of Father KS. BOSKO. When I asked someone who was there, one person answered, "I don't know," while another person responded with something like, "Gonyo gonyo gonyo, somehow Mary" (referring to the Virgin Mary?), but it seemed difficult to explain. Several people were holding pamphlets, so I took pictures of them, but the pamphlets were different for each group. I still don't quite understand.
Based on one of the pamphlets, it seems that the parade was for the 200th anniversary of the birth of Father KS. BOSKO. However, it's possible that one group was related to this event, while other groups were different people.
The only thing that is certain is that it was a parade related to Christianity.
One group was walking while singing what sounded like hymns, while another group was singing a song that sounded like a soccer cheer, such as "Ole ole ole ole." I still don't understand.
When I asked the information center staff, they said that a Christian parade was being held for about 5 days, and that it would proceed from one church to another. Hmm. It's a bit understandable, but also a bit confusing.
The people walking in the parade were waving to the people watching along the roadside.

Wawel Royal Castle (in Polish, Zamek Królewski na Wawelu; in Ukrainian, Вавельський замок).
Let's go to Wawel Castle (Wawel Royal Castle, Zamek Królewski na Wawelu), which is located on a high ground in the old town.
It looks magnificent even from a distance.
It seems there is a museum here, but I have to also see the Jewish Quarter today, and I don't really know what's inside, so I'll pass on it for now.

Galicia Jewish Museum
Let's visit the Galicia Jewish Museum in the Jewish Quarter.
This museum mainly features photographs and their descriptions. It is divided into five themes, and among them, the photographs of places where Jews were murdered in the suburbs, and the photographs of synagogues (Jewish places of worship) that have been abandoned and fallen into disrepair due to the absence of caretakers, were particularly impressive.
After seeing this, I became interested in the traces of Jews in various parts of Poland. I feel that understanding the Holocaust is superficial without knowing this. There are many places to see, such as abandoned synagogues, rebuilt synagogues, people cleaning and repainting the graves of relatives who have no descendants, and places where groups were massacred in the suburbs. I need to do some research.
If I go, it might be by motorcycle.
I will keep this as a topic for future consideration.
However, the more I learn about Jewish people, the more I am impressed by how intelligent and capable they are.
